🎶 Join an exciting CUBAN SALSA & RUEDA DE CASINO WORKSHOP with Cuban maestro Vivio and his partner Justine, where you will learn and develop your Salsa and Rueda (Salsa danced in a vibrant circle, swapping partners) moves. ✨ PLUS discover elements of other Cuban dance styles like Cha-Cha, Son, Bolero, Salsa Suelta, Afro-Cuban Orishas, Rumba, Mambo and Conga.

MEET SALSA ON THE AWA
🌟 Founded by Marie-Louise and Petera Hudson, Salsa on the Awa has been at the heart of Whanganui’s Latin dance scene for years, bringing people together through music, movement, and community. They are the founders of the New Zealand Cuban Dance Festival, World Salsa Tours, the New Zealand World Latin Dance Cup, NZ Salsa Divas, and the New Zealand Bachata Festival. Today, they keep the local scene thriving with regular salsa nights, welcoming dancers from complete beginners to seasoned pros.
MEET THE CUBAN GROOVE
❤️ The Cuban Groove, founded by Cuban dance maestro Vivio, is Auckland’s home of authentic Cuban Salsa, Rueda, and Afro-Cuban dance, with 1,000s of students taught since 2002 across New Zealand, Australia, and Southeast Asia. Vivio has a deep connection to Whanganui—the first place he taught and performed after moving to NZ—and Justine, locally born and bred, shares that same heart for the community. Together, they bring warmth, skill, and that special groove to the Awa.
